Teams are madly finalising deals to get on the grid of the season official launch on February 6 and the season opening Clipsal 500 later in the month.
PWR Racing had sold its two entrant's licences for sale but has sold neither. One has been handed back to the sport's governing body, TEGA.
The team is rumoured to be negotiating with the Development Series team Ford Rising Stars to buy the remaining licence.
However, it appears unlikely a deal can be reached before the season begins, and PWR Racing is readying itself to field a VE Commodore for Paul Weel to drive in the early season races.
All that has thrown Walden Motorsport's plans into chaos because it had initially arranged a customer deal with PWR Racing.
The Sydney based team has bought one of the team's VE Commodores and was hoping to get support running it.
But now that PWR Racing plans to bow out soon, it has lost several sponsorship deals.
"We're still unsure" team boss Brian Walden says. "We have the license up for sale, but that's a last resort."
Walden is still trying to secure sponsorship and a driver before the Adelaide street race.
The good news for the series is struggling New Zealand squad Team Kiwi Racing looks like continuing despite ending its technical partnership with Stone Brothers Racing.
Kiwi veteran Kayne Scott is likely to take over driving duties from teenager Shane van Gisbergen, who looks like replacing Russell Ingall in the SBR Falcon.
